Questions
- How does this novel fit into the sub-categories of science fiction? Is this a cyberpunk novel? If not, what other books would you say Solitaire is similar to?
- Do the memo and letter chapters in the book work effectively? Or, does that structure
distract from the rest of the novel? Why did Eskridge decide to change the point-of-view
in exactly that way?
- The violent figures who actually appear in the novel are primarily women. Many of the
victims (of both corporate decisions and violent crimes) are men. In addition, Jackal's
explicit personal conflict is with Tiger, a man. What is Eskridge doing with gender?
- The wrap-up for the novel is swift. Is the closing unbelievably quick, easy, or nice?
